Removals in Barnehurst
The easiest part of our area to move in and the one with the most stuff in it: settled 1930s family housing, driveways almost everywhere, and lofts that have not been emptied since the house was bought.
Barnehurst is the settled residential top of our patch: 1930s family housing laid out around the station and Martens Grove, driveways almost everywhere, and gardens big enough that they become part of the job. It is the easiest place we work to load a vehicle, and among the largest by volume.
The housing
The 1930s semis
The defining stock. Bay fronts, side access, generous hallways and a garage or a driveway on most plots. A crew can put a Luton right outside and work without a long carry, which is why moves here run quicker than anywhere else in DA7 or DA8.
The station streets
Tighter and busier, with more on-street parking around commuter times. Still perfectly workable — an earlier start solves it.
Later infill
A scattering of newer houses and small closes. Generally fine; mention it if the turning head is narrow.
The volume question
Almost every Barnehurst move is bigger than the room count suggests. These are houses people have been in for decades. The loft has the Christmas decorations, the suitcases and the previous three sofas' worth of cushions. The garage has the tools, the bikes and a freezer. The shed has everything else.
None of that is a problem, provided it is counted. It is the single most common reason a quote from elsewhere comes in cheap and the bill does not, so our survey opens the garage and puts a head through the loft hatch.
Downsizing and storage
A large share of the work here is a long-occupied family house emptying into something smaller, usually with a chain that is not quite lined up. Storage is quoted alongside the move so the things you have not decided about have somewhere to be — see services.
Roads

Why do Barnehurst quotes come out bigger than people expect?
Because these are long-settled family houses. The garage, the loft and the shed are usually all coming, and together they are frequently more volume than an entire bedroom. It is not a surprise charge if it is in the survey.
Is access good?
Among the best around here. Driveways on most streets, side gates, and roads wide enough to work a Luton without blocking anyone. The station roads are the tightest part and they are still fine.
Do you do downsizing moves?
Often. The pattern is a four-bed emptying into a two-bed with a chunk going into store while decisions get made. We quote the move and the storage together so nothing has to be decided on the day.
Can you move a shed or a greenhouse?
A dismantled shed, yes, if it is already down and stacked. Taking one apart is a separate job and we will price it as one rather than folding it in quietly. Greenhouses we will look at first — old glass rarely survives a move.
